Winter Series Seasons Wrap-up: New Champions Crowned
BROOKLYN, MI – As the WASCAR nation prepares for the upcoming 2010 season, the Nationwide Series finished up the Winter Series schedule at Michigan International Speedway and the Craftsman Truck Series wrapped it up in Phoenix. Greg Evans comes into the Michigan event with a comfortable lead in the point’s standings over Darryl Griffith. Greg’s only goal for this final race to stay out of trouble and finish the event. It did not matter were he finished; he had the championship wrapped up coming into the final event. Coming out of qualifying at Michigan Greg started surrounded by Redline Motorsports – Steve Gallagher took the pole, Greg second, Doug Manning third and Howard McLeod fourth with Steve Metzler fifth. The racing competition was talented, tough, and exciting to watch – white knuckle racing for sure. But in the end it was Redline Motorsports who prevailed. Redline crossed the line one, two, three for the first time in their team history. Doug Manning took the win with Steve Gallagher second, Howard McLeod third, Greg Evans fourth, and Chris Chambers fifth. Congratulations to Greg Evans on his first WASCAR championship. On Thursday, February 11th, The CUP Series will crank it back up with the WASCAR Shootout at Daytona TR. Check the forum for more details.

Manning wins CTS Truck race at Phoenix as McLeod is crowned Winter Season Champ.
In Phoenix Howard McLeod was in a tight points battle with Danny Boswell – a mere 26 points separated them for the championship points lead. Unfortunately Danny was unable to make the final event of the season, which handed the win to Howard so long as he was able to make a qualifying position. Simply put, all he needed to do was show up. Although the championship was finalized when Howard took the green flag the racing did not disappoint. And once again, Redline Motorsports finished the event with a one, two, three finish in the same fashion as the Michigan event. Congratulations to Howard on his first WASCAR championship. This Winter season was an experiment for a possible merger with SOAR Racing. Both leagues agreed to use this off-season to join each other’s leagues and compete together in scheduled events. WASCAR hosted Nationwide and Craftsman Truck Series events while SOAR hosted a very competitive and exciting SROC series utilizing the IROC mod and a modified points system. Both leagues agree that the series’ were a success and race results showed on paper that the drivers have raced together before – in reality this was the first time most drivers have ever gone door to door with the other leagues. Just proves that these two leagues are compatible and the friendliest leagues on the net. Which leads us to the 2010 season. WASCAR and SOAR will host their scheduled events as done in previous years. However, drivers from both leagues have registered to compete in the other leagues selected series. With the help from both leagues we can continue to keep our numbers up and continue to go in size. With that said, if you desire to fulfill your racing habits visit http://www.soar-racing.com/main.htm and see if they have a day and series that meets your satisfactions. You will not be disappointed.
